We
put the “you” in Union
Since
1997, the nurses and health care professionals represented
by the Massachusetts Nurses Association/New England Nurses
Association have taken great strides in improving their workplace
environment.
From
negotiating increased wages and benefits to addressing inadequate
staffing to advocating for patients rights, our members are
making their united voices heard loud and clear.
Increasingly,
nurses and health care professionals throughout New England
recognize that organizing within the work place is their right.
Organizing is not a defiance of management; it is a legal
declaration for equity, justice and positive changes.
Organizing
takes its form in improved working conditions, better pay
scales and the right to “due process” through
grievance and arbitration procedures. And they may not want
to admit it, but employers also benefit from unions –
through increased productivity, less turnover and longer workforce
tenure.
By
organizing, nurses and health care professionals throughout
New England are making broad sweeping changes through legislative
efforts, patient safety advocacy and by leading the nation
in wage standards.
Training,
knowledge and protection are the tools needed to be effective
advocates for yourselves and your patients. MNA/NENA can provide
those tools…but only you can put them to work.
Once
empowered, there is no limit to what union members can achieve.
Protect,
advocate, unite…organize
